This was definitely a good roadtrip books. I love roadtrip books, with the feeling that anything could happen. And I liked the characters they met, Isa and the Hippo lady, and the family with the risi bisi. The humor was great, the characters were great, and even though the events were a bit unbelievable, that's what I love most about roadtrip books anyway. The only thing that was kind of off for me was that the writing was awkward at some points and really irked me at the beginning, but I think that may be because it's a translation. Really great book though. Perfect for summer. When I started reading this book I felt like reading a book I used to read in the 6th grade. It is simple written and easy understandable. The protagonist is a 14 year old student from Berlin who considers himself as an outsider in school who has no friends besides his best friend who moved away.It is a week before the summer hollidays start when the class gets a new student, Andrej Tschichatschow a russian immigrant who managed it to achieve such good grades that he was allowed to visit the "Gymnasium".He becomes the new outsider and everyone is irritated by his name and by his attitude. When the hollidays started Maik, thats his name is supposed to spend the 6 weeks alone because his mother has to go to another rehab hospital and his dad goes on a business trip with his assistant. All alone Maik gets bored, when suddenly Andrej stands infront of his door. He stole a car and togther they go on an adventure none of them will ever forget. So basically the story is ok written but not the best thing to read. It was highly recommanded in Germany but it defientely is not that good. The story has barely tension and it is not the usual kind of road trip roman.I think this novel was supposed to show how bad integration works in Germany and that some things that parents teach their children are not completely right. For example the novel portraits that the two boys meet only good people on their way when their parents and teachers taught them that only bad people live in this world and that strangers are dangerous. It also shows how scared people are of immigrants and with how much disgust they treat them. The book makes you question your values and your morals a bit but damn it is not well written and I wish there was more tension.
