Lasciati Tentare (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

While I enjoyed reading "Bonds of Desire," I must admit to feeling a little let down by it.We met Allison (aka Allie), a lawyer, in the first books of the series. She's friends with Kendra and Cali, who have ties to The Den. Allie's visited the club, and has caught the eye of Seth Matthews, but she's shy about kink, and is hesitant about getting involved. All that changes when Seth rescues a sub, Tyler, from an abusive Dom, and asks Allie for help (although I couldn’t figure out why he needed a lawyer), and she's slowly drawn into a relationship with both men.And here's where it went off the rails a little....I was figuring that we'd explore Tyler's reasons for subjecting himself to abuse...nope. Or that we'd learn more about why Allie doesn't want to accept her feelings for Seth and Tyler...nope. Maybe we'd get involved in the political intrigue surrounding the hunt for the sadistic Dom who tortures his subs....nope. They all get rather perfunctory treatment. They're not so much resolved, as they just fizzle out. Yes, the threesome (and twosome) sex is scorching hot, but it can't compensate for a confused story line, or for the extraordinary and very distracting word usage errors that grow more frequent as you get through the book. Aicher needs a new editor.So...3 stars. I received an e-galley of Bonds of Desire from NetGalley for an honest review. This is the first Wicked Play book that I've read it. It was a great introduction, and can easily be read without reading the first two. Menage romances can be difficult to pull off, the problem I most often find is that there seems to be a third-wheel. I didn't get that in this book, though. Seth, Tyler, and Allie are all different, but mesh really well. Allie and Seth battle for top-dog, while Tyler is healing. Watching Allie and Seth go back and forth with each other offered a whirlwind of emotion. One that definitely kept me captivated. Tyler was harder for me to connect with. He had a hell of an experience at The Den and ends up hurt more than just physically. I kind of felt like his constant "woe is me" attitude could have been drawn out a little less. I'm not saying that he had to flip back from his injury quickly. I just wish we would have seen his growth and healing a little more. It happened at the end, and it was done well--if quick. Overall, these three caught my attention and held it. The struggle of submission was intense, but not unbelievable. I would definitely recommend this book for fans of BDSM and menage. I'll be reading future books from Lynda for sure.
