I am extremely surprise to have enjoyed this as much as I did. Not a fan of cowboy stories, and had it have a cowboy on the cover I would have passed it up and missed out. I love Lauren's character. She was strong, sensible, intelligent and demurely ballsy. Wilson wrote her realistic and flawed, but admirable. Cal was the weaker of the two in that he was constantly in turmoil within himself. But he was written totally alpha and all the stuff the hero supposed to be. Love when an author can create dimensions in her characters. For me, the story was really pretty good. It had a more uniqueness than the typical run of the mill romance, and I was able to fall into it fairly quick. Well paced, good direction with enough action to keep interesting and but also well built chemistry in the characters. The actual romance was a little quick, but solid and believable enough. Very PG, but it wasn't an issue. Well told story, I have give this a thumbs up from my point view. I really enjoyed this story. It had a little of everything I enjoy reading about. The only thing that really bugged me about it, was the fact that the main female character, it says three times if I'm not mistaken, that's she has short dark hair..but the picture on the cover ..the women has longer hair. I enjoy covers on the books I read...and i kept envisioning while reading that she had long hair, when in a heated moment Cal would describe her and her short hair..ruined the scene for me every time.
What do You think about Lauren's Eyes (2004)?
Pretty entertaining as a read. The InstaLove factor was very high however and I really hate that.
