Lord Harold attended the wedding at Wyckford Heath with his son Lord Bernard of Derkland, to also find his son to be wed. Lord Bernard being recalcitrant upon matrimony was avoiding his father's wishes, and envious to his brother Dirick going to travel to places. Subsequently, as an oldest son he doesn't have a choice but to marry to beget an heir, otherwise his father will decide it for him.Considering, Lord Bernard has his own agenda; as soon as he meet the golden beauty, and gentle Joanna he change his mind, and ready to marry. The problem was, Joanna was already married to Lord Ralfs who occasionally beat her into a pulp. Once, Lord Bernard and Joanna found each other they fell inlove and fight for Lord Ralf's wrath... An enjoyable short read. Set in medieval period, and once again reminds us of how lucky all of us females are to be living in the 21st century! Joanna was being beaten horribly by her brute of a husband and her own father did nothing to help her--enter our hero, Bernard. While Bernard is trying to work out how he can rescue Joanna from her nightmare marriage, Joanna's husband attacks Bernard and Bernard kills him in self=-defense. That worked out well!
