Lawn Gone!: Low-Maintenance, Sustainable, Attractive Alternatives For Your Yard (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
Penick offers attractive lawnscaping solutions to the homeowner who wants to reduce or eliminate the need for mowing his property, but still stay on good terms with the neighbors. Whether you are looking to adopt a more environmentally friendly property or you just do not like spending every weekend hauling the mower around, this book provides ways to have a yard that is the envy of the neighborhood, without the continuous maintenance of a traditional green grass lawn. Perhaps it is because I am a certified permaculture geek (I really do have a certificate), anything that does away with lawns piques my interest. I think I was hoping for more of an edible garden book, but this is small, good basic book for anyone who is feeling like they want to do away with their lawn but overwhelmed by the idea. She gives good step by step instruction, has nice idea photos and smartly has a section about dealing with HOAs who sometimes frown on lawn removal.
