Le Trésor De Guerre De Bobbie Faye (2000) - Plot & Excerpts
Another fun read that is pure entertainment. I forgot to mention the main things that bothered me in the previous book and it was amplified in this book. There are a lot of bad guys in this book. 3 different sets to be exact with more than a couple people in each group and sometimes it felt a little choppy when switching to another character's POV. I would be so engrossed in Bobby Faye and Trevor's adventures and then bam, next paragraph starts off with another character. And the character would be introduced by name before giving us the description of who he is (and then cluing us in on which group of bad guys he belonged to).The other thing that threw me off in the previous book was the character of Ce Ce and her whole voodoo/juju magic stuff. However, while in book one I felt like her character's actions were more a distraction to my enjoyment of the book, in this book, I found her character enjoyable because of the scenes towards the end and how she helped Bobbie Faye.Back to the good stuff, this book definitely follows in the 1st's footsteps when it comes to over-the-top-ness but again, I enjoyed practically every minute of it. The heat turns up between Bobbie Faye and Trevor and the tension between those two and Cam also goes full-blast. I have to say I feel sorry for Cam. He seems like such a good guy and he's so torn up over Bobbie Faye and Trevor's growing relationship. With that said, I'm still Team Trevor all the way :) This was a book I stumbled across at the library and, to be honest, I chose it because of the title. What an eye catching title!I realized once reading it that it was second in a series. I usually like reading a series at the first book, so perhaps that is why I felt a little distant when reading this. I couldn't fully connect with the characters. It was an enjoyable read, I especially loved the plot and how it kept kicking up a notch, but it wasn't one of those must-reads for me where I was especially in love with the characters. Hence, the 3 stars. The plots a lot of fun, though. I don't know that I've read a book that so successfully turns up the intensity level and heat so well plot wise. It would make a great action movie!
