Leonardo (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

This romance takes place in San Antonio. Leo Santini is visiting a friend in the hospital who is making it clear he's afraid of his Physical Therapist (PT). Maryanne Johnson is small, but raised by a Marine she doesn't take crap from anyone. She also finds herself strongly attracted to men in uniform, but decided she would not allow herself that kind of life. Her dad and her brothers were all Marines, and as the lone civilian she found herself working in a military hospital. That was enough military for several lifetimes. Leo is one of 4 brothers - each in a different branch of the service. Leo ends up smitten with Maryanne and sets out to win her over any way he can. Their first kiss is sizzling and he makes it clear he is very interested in her. But Maryanne has been holding her own against her brothers, she thinks maybe she can against Leo. She keeps saying they shouldn't date, but then he does something awesome like bring her lunch at work. Read the book to find out how they finally get together. If there's anyone well-versed by military life, it's Melissa Schroeder, being a "brat" herself. In the first installment of the Santinis, we meet easygoing Leonardo, a medic and how he falls fast and hard (literally and figuratively) for MJ. She's a physical therapist who's hardass and gets the job done. They're perfect for each other since she grew up in a family of military men, and only has her grandmother for a maternal figure. The pace was fast and when it comes to mutual attraction, time doesn't matter. There were a few conflicts but that's to be expected. A good relationship is not all sunshine and roses. This was a short, but fun and sexy read.
