This was a really cute read. But it wasn't the best book I've ever read, just a fluff one. This is also my first Debbie Macomber book. So because I haven't picked up a Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy book before- that could be why I didn't care for it as much. In all honesty, the angels irritated me at some points in the book. When they were talking about how they wanted to shake humans and how dumb we were, etc. It was a little offensive. Also the way they talked and acted so clueless about certain things kind of made me want to face palm a couple of times. Like when Will didn't have any idea about the Arctic.I also think this book was a lot more about Aren and Lucie and not as much about the angels. They call it a Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy story but they only popped up in short increments during the book. The very middle of the book was my favorite. I liked Lucie and Aren's character and when some drama finally happened (when Aren turned out to be Eaton Well and reviewed Lucie's restaurant and it was horrible) that really got me turning pages. I think the ending was a little rushed though, and incredibly cheesy. After they meet at the empire state building and Lucie is like "This is just the best Christmas EVER!" I thought the author was overdoing it a little. But such can be expected in a light and fluffy Christmas novel. It was a cute read and just what I needed to put me in the Christmas spirit, even though the book didn't go into much detail about the holidays at all, aside from the occasional detailed view of the shoppers in NYC and Lucie's plan for Christmas Eve.I don't think this is the last I will read of Macomber. Maybe I should go back to the first time she introduced Mercy, Goodness, and Shirley to get a better read on their characters. Another great Shirley, Goodness and Mercy story!!! If you haven't read this series they are charming, funny and poignant at the same time. Shirley, Goodness and Mercy have a new apprentice angel Will (what else) and he makes 2 lonely people meet on New Years Eve. They are immediately attacked but it's the wrong time and they loose touch. God had planned for them to meet in about a year so the angel interference was not good. This sets the angels on a course to correct their mistake and bring the couple back together. Some parts are truly funny and other parts are just plain sweet. Great light read and it's set at Christmas time which makes it even better.
What do You think about Les Anges S'en Mêlent (2013)?
What a great Christmas read for all to enjoy! Who doesn't want to read about love and miracles during the holiday season!Shirley, Goodness and Mercy intervene in this holiday romance along with their apprentice Will who gets the ball rolling when he brings together Lucie and Aren!New Year's will never be the same for these two! They make plans to re-connect but those plans change and they have no way of contacting each other. A year later, fate, or a few angels, lend a hand in reuniting Lucie and Aren! What a great read for the holiday season!

I listened to this one while driving to my parents house for Christmas. Shirley, Goodness, Mercy, and now Will are up to their usual shenanigans. I find I both enjoy and are frustrated by these characters! I kept thinking "If they had left well enough alone...!" This is a sweet Christmas romance. Nothing deep and ponderous, but a great read or listen to help break the stress from the holiday season!
