Les Chroniques De Lady Yoga (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
Ok, so I'm biased a bit because of the yoga - this is almost a yogic version of chic lit so I really ought not to have liked it, but... it was light, easy to read, slightly humerous in places, and had reasonable characterisation and some good plots and a few twists. Some of the characters were a bit weak though, and some were just a bit too annoying to like too much.I have a few niggles with a couple of the yoga content but never mind. I don't live in America so I don't know how accurate its portrayal is of the yoga scene in California, but from other things I've read/heard I would imagine it's pretty accurate, and pretty damming therefore. Which makes me glad to be in rural west Wales.... My partner also pointed out it would not be possible to do yoga in the stilettos on the front cover - I hadn't even noticed them!Hovering between 2 and 3, but feeling in a generous mood so 3 it is! I hated this book, struggled to get through it. I found most of the characters poorly fleshed-out and shallow - almost like cardboard cutouts instead of people. The plot was meandering and inane, plus the backdrop was unrealistic (coming from the standpoint of someone who is in the yoga biz professionally). I'm glad I didn't pay good money for the book. It was a review copy, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
