Noooo... Being a huge fan of CSI and crime fiction in general, the blurb made reading this book a no-brainer. Anthony E Zuicker is the creator of tv's CSI and here turns his hand to writing. Does he pull it off? For the most part, yes. The plot and story races along, even if it is sometimes a bit too one dimensional. The characters are very averagely drawn and could have done with some more fleshing out, but this didn't really hinder my overall enjoyment of the novel itself. What did, and i have a pretty strong stomach, was the level of gore and the disturbing methods of the serial killer. Fans of CSI may have seen the episode featuring the villain Squeegel and will now that it is one of the most macabre episodes in the show's history. Here it is increased and those of a nervous disposition or weak stomach may want to avoid this book. But, despite this, i found myself turning the pages pretty rapidly. The plot never lingers, never slows down and is pretty much breathless from the opening chapter. Zuicker's writing style flows well, with only the occasional jarring metaphor or odd sentence structure. Overall, this was an addictive, fast-paced read that i can highly recommend to fans of CSI and dark (very dark) crime fiction. But for anyone who doesn't like gore and horror, i would advise you skip this one.
What do You think about Level 26: Dunkle Seele (2009)?
A přesto dokonalé.
