Live (The Burnside Series): The Burnside Series (2014) - Plot & Excerpts
I was surprised that "Live" was so sexual; when I first started it I thought it would be tame, but boy was I wrong. There were many sex scenes, and I thought they all were well written, and I liked how the scenes really focused on the small things. I really liked Destiny and Hefin, and I thought they had excellent chemistry. I'm glad it was acknowledges that her siblings suck because they were getting on my nerves, but I see this is book 1 in the series, so I have hopes for them to get over themselves in their own books. I thought Destiny and Hefin together was really sweet, and I was rooting for them to figure out their issues. I do wish the ending had a bit more to it, but I still enjoyed this story, and I look forward to reading more books in this series. 3.75 starsThank you NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this book for an honest review. This is my first Mary Ann Rivers book and I have to be honest and say May Ann has a unique way of writing and it took some getting used too, but I do believe I will read a few more of her books.Des and Hefin are each broken in their own way, which in turn had me feeling depressed in parts, had me wondering why they were drawn to each other when it was clear (to me anyway) that they were not exactly good for each other. Each seemed sorta set in their ways, Des had to plans to ever leave as her family was there and Hefin had no plans to stay and both of them understood where each stood on this, but I did enjoy being included on their journey of love which, of course, leads to a happy ending.I really loved that the setting was the library as its one of my favorite places to be! While this book was different than what I normally read, I encourage everyone to read it and see for themselves.
