This is a type of book where as soon as you start it you're hooked and you know it. excellent. EXCELLENT. i can't wait to jump into the next one. i mean GRIPPED from beginning to end. the writing itself was spectacular. i think it was just like, you never get the feeling that you're a third party. it;s more like Eva is speaking directly to you YOU personally. not YOU the reader. [i hope that makes sense.] anyway my favourite part of the book was:"Mr. Conivent’s eyes were hard. “Because I want to see you get out of this one.” He came toward us, and we scrambled away from him on the mattress until our back was pressed against the wall. Still he came closer. “I’d like to see you tear the wood from the window with your bare hands, Addie. I’d like to see you knock down that door."because i just got this burning in my chest from excitement. not even excitement. more like. Eagerness. because you, as the reader, accepted the challenge. you were set up so beautifully by this prick. and after you read that you just sit right up like, "okay, girls, here we go." and just UGH thrilling. i just. adored it. would definitely recommend. to everyone. Yes. Five stars. There's nothing I didn't like about this book. The characters were likable, there were plot twists, there was action, happiness, pain and even a bit of love which I definitely had seen coming and which I think is the cutest thing ever.Zhang created her own world. She must have so much fantasy to create something like this and I can't wait to read the other two of these books. Literally can't. Oh and btw, the cover is gorgeous.
