Longbourn (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

I would have rated this one 5 out of 5, were it not for the section of James' backstory. I felt that it really took you out of the story. Even the part where it weny back to Mrs Hill did that a bit, but was more necessary to the context. I just really enjoyed Sarah's voice and would have preferred if she had stayed with her POV the whole time. Loved it, and I agree with the previous reviewer who said they really felt that they were loving at Longbourn. I will never look at the Bennets the same way again! Actually this is more of a 4.5 stars then just a 4. I found this book to be written ever so lovely and poetically. It had such a good flow in the writing style. Credits to Jo Baker! I have to admit, rather shamefully, that I have not yet read pride and prejudice, however there is this urge to read it now. The characters are really charming and the main characters of pride and prejudice were the side characters in this book. I found that to be very fascinating. It gave me an insight on what goes on with the servants and how much of effort is taken by them to take care of their masters. I loved this book and I found that the movie will be coming out in the next two years! Absolutely looking forward to that!

What do You think about Longbourn (2013)?

Retells Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice from the viewpoint of servants. Excellent.

Very soapy and not worth reading.
