Los 120 Días De Sodoma (1901) - Plot & Excerpts

I got about a hundred pages in and left it for a few days, upon coming back to it this evening, I realised I really have no reason to finish as I can imagine what happens in the next 200 pages...(I should add that I find it to be a tad boring since it's rather repetitive) I also skipped to the end as I was curious as to how it would end/be wrapped up and of course am not surprised that the atrocities simply worsen with much more torture and the like...I'm not generally put off by "difficult subject matter" such as this (why would I have picked it up otherwise?)however, at this time, I have well and truly gotten the gist and see no reason to continue as I know there is nothing for me to gain from it. I can't see myself coming back to it and plan shortly to throw out my (badly printed from the Book Depository) copy...I'm not rating since I haven't finished nor enjoyed the book - although it isn't one to enjoy as such, I appreciate the deeper issues that it touches on and see no harm in exposing myself to reading material such as this but plan to steer clear for the time being. Not for the faint hearted. The book charts the increasingly degenerate and cruel activities of a group of egotistical libertines who have imprisoned a group of young girls and boys in a remote castle, as material to play out their most extreme fantasies. Features extremely graphic and disturbing scenes of a sexual and violent nature including sodomy, religious desecration, coprophagia and many other aberrant sexual acts too titillating to list here. Leaves a lasting impression on the reader. Decidedly overlong and a kind of extreme reading challenge deserving of a medal if you can finish the book without pause. Highly recommended to skim read last third of book or to return at a later date when you have enough time and a very good bottle of wine to do it justice.

What do You think about Los 120 Días De Sodoma (1901)?

Just awful. I can tell Sade struggled to find enough words and ways to describe beauty and penises.
