This was the first book by Julie Lessman I had read and I was hooked. She quickly became one of my favorite authors, and I have read several of her books since. The Spunky Cowgirl From Texas Cassidy McClare heads west to California hoping to forget about her heartache and have a fun summer with her cousins. While staying with the McClare's of San Francisco she meets her cousin Blake's best friend Jamie McKenna. Although Jamie is very handsome and seems to be attracted to Cassie, she is determined not to let it go past friendship.Jamie Loves to flirt with Cassie and get her riled up, and Cassie loves the fact that she is the only one that seems to be able to beat Jamie in billards. Sometimes Cassie wonders if Jamie really likes her or is only after her families money, because of his reputation. She tries to fight it, but she can't help herself from falling for him, with all the time he spends with her and her family. This is a great story where you not only get to see what happens with Cassie and Jamie, but you also get to meet the rest of the McClare family as well. You will see how loving and fun they are, along with learning some of their family secrets. Great read all around. At first I couldn't get into the book. Not my favorite. Has many good points such as not marrying someone that isn't a believer. I like that hard work is encouraged, but that you have to let go and let God handle things. I like that there was empathy for those who are having a hard time at that they are taking action to help them. I was really surprised by one revelation in the book, but most of the other happenings I saw coming.
