Love Finds You In Lonesome Prairie, Montana (2009) - Plot & Excerpts
SUMMARY: New Yorker Julia Cavanaugh never meant to be a mail-order bride. When Julia finds herself stranded in Lonesome Prairie, Montana, unwittingly promised to an uncouth miser, she turns to a respected circuit preacher to protect her from the marriage.REVIEW: This LFY was filled with faith, laughter and romance. Cute story line with Julia not knowing her orphanage guardian had managed a placement for her along with the other orphans Julia was escorting to the West. Both she and Pastor Isaac found out that their plans and God's plans weren't quite the same. Love the humor from the minor characters of Giant Jim, Mabelina, Sarah Mack and Horace. The emphasis on family and finding your "true home" were well done. The sub plots played well with the main plot line and made this an enjoyable read.FAVORITE QUOTES: "I know mine's not a jolly story, but it's through my heartache I've found my hiding place in God. Before then I believed in Him, but now I depend on Him, day by day. "That's what grace is all about--getting what you don't deserve." I was glad for the opportunity to read a title in the Love Finds You in Lonesome Prairie series. I’m a fan of historical christian fiction and also of warm tales of those finding love when they least expect it.As I began to read this book, I swept into the story of Julia, a young woman whom ended up being led away from her own comforts and into a land great, wide, and quite unknown to her. On her journey, she grows to learn more about God and the gentle loving hearts of those she encounters.Julie as well as the male lead (a parson) in the story though not realizing until quite sometime learn that God’s plan and their own are quite different. This is definitely a story of faith and the benefits of trusting God’s plan for us.This book was easy to read, the characters were believable, and the story takes you on an adventure with roaming buffalo, gun fights, trials, a little bit of love, comedy, and more!
