Love Finds You In Miracle, Kentucky (2008) - Plot & Excerpts
Saw this book on a Goodreads suggestion list for me and decided to read it based strictly on it being based in a town called Miracle, Kentucky. Yes, Miracle is a real town in Kentucky, tho its pronounced "Merkel". Its a good, enjoyable Christian book ... with prayer and a Womens Weekly Bible Study so casually written it, they're a natural fit for the book. Meg moves to Miracle, Ky to start her life and teaching career over after a long series of moves with her divored mother and a failed relationship. Meg's Grams and remarried dad Paul (whom she doesn't have a relationship with) live in Miracle. She meets and befriends two teachers - Leah who thinks she's in love with military penpal Dave and Kent, who's also starting his life and career over at the charter school. She also meets Vance Bayer and his handicapped daughter Cammy. Cammy is in Megs class and Kent's Phys Ed class. Nicely written, woven story, with a hint of another love relationship between Grams and her best friend Tom. Enjoyable, pleasant book. At first I wasn't really getting into this book. It is about a young woman who suddenly leaves her home in Chicago after living with a man who is unfaithful. She goes to Kentucky where her grandmother, father, and half-siblings live. It was nothing like the life she had, but it was growing on her, and God was grabbing at her life too. She meets a man named Vance and his handicapped daughter Cammy and starts to really enjoy being around them. This story doesn't really shine too much light on how God changes her, but is about the relationships she makes while in Kentucky. It was pretty good, though still on my "least favorite" Love Finds You book list.
