Love Finds You In Wildrose, North Dakota (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

I really liked this one. I have a soft spot for North Dakota and was excited to read a story that takes place there. The premise was really interesting too. Rosemary has traveled to Wildrose to visit her identical twin sister Rachel. When she arrives she finds that her sister has passed leaving a grieving husband and newborn baby. Rosemary had always cared for Finn and wants to be a part of the baby’s life, help him care for little Sarah since her sister no longer can. Finn at first resents Rosemary being there, she is a constant reminder of his lost love. Overtime though, he grows to see Rosemary as a unique person and starts to fall for her. I just loved Rosemary; she reminded me a lot of myself. In that I always say things without speaking or thinking first. She is a bit braver than I am though and I admired how she took charge of her life and also helped those around her. I liked that she stood up for herself and wouldn’t marry without love. I could totally understand her reluctance of marrying Finn not knowing if he was always missing or comparing her to his first wife. I can’t even imagine being in Finn’s position, especially since everything is happening so soon after his wife’s death. Finn was a great guy though, I could see why both Rachel and Rosemary cared for him so much. The romance in the story was nice, it moves along slowly, but believably. I admit, I wouldn’t have minded a bit more wooing and stolen kisses, but considering their situation I thought things were handled well. I thought they had good chemistry and some nice interactions, which is why I wouldn’t have minded a bit more of them together, especially as the story progresses. Their story does take a slight backseat to everything else going on, but I loved the side characters and so I didn’t mind so much. Overall, I thought it was very well written and I had a hard time putting it down. Content: Clean. 2.5 stars *Contains vague spoiler* A little romance with a twist: if your identical twin's widower asks to marry you, how can you be sure it's really you he always wants to be with? The characters were interesting, believable, and I enjoyed their story. The whole thing was pretty good until towards the end--we are not shown the personal conflict resolution, but are simply told that it was resolved. I felt that the author wimped out on this very important point and I felt cheated when I had hung in there for all of these characters challenges and then I was simply told that all objections had been done away with by explanations. Disappointing.
