Not being an avid reader myself, it was very surprising even for me that I was immediately hooked on to the book after reading the first "chapter", or should I say Jamie's blog. That being said, this book is presented by alternating between Jamie's blog and Laura's diary to her mum, allowing us to see how certain events unfold or view in each of their perspective. This would often lead to extremely hilarious moments due to the way each protagonist describe each situation they get caught up in. Furthermore, this book is a very easy read and the way their love story came together is really very heartwarming for me and was paced very well. Though some things I thought could have been done better would be the supporting characters such as their best friends and Laura's roommate. They all did play a fairly important role in the story yet they were not brought out in to the limelight long enough for me to feel their importance to the protagonist themselves. Thus, I have the urge to want to know them a little more. Nonetheless, the protagonists are both presented in an excellent manner. You get to know their background story, though not a full and detailed story but is was enough for me to "feel" each of them.But all in all, I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is ready for a good laugh at a love story, and of course to any non-readers who are starting to get in to reading like me. It is one book worth reading for. Love..From Both Sides is a book about the misguided attempts of Jaime Newman and Laura McIntrye to find love. Jaime tells his story through his blog and Laura through entries in her diary. This seemed like a light, funny read that wouldn't take itself too seriously but it didn't hit the mark for me. Neither character struck me as all that funny despite the potential for some good laughs. I also couldn't remotely identify with either character. Both seemed a bit over the top in different moments and at different times. I didn't really care if they found love (although it's pretty obvious they would) since I just didn't like them much. And then to hear far too much about their disastrous sexual encounters was really unappealing. When everything is told for a laugh or with a wink it loses its impact. The balance between good, grounded, human interactions and overblown, crude or ridiculous interactions is way off. I'm now a bit frustrated that I also received books two and three courtesy of Amazon Vine and have to continue reading the series. Lesson learned!
