Love Kitchen (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

I worked in the restaurant industry for years so I have a soft spot for novels that revolve around/inside restaurants. In the beginning of the novel, Georgia acts like a doormat, but she slowly becomes stronger and more self-assured due to extenuating circumstances. I love that she takes off to Italy. The food scenes are so well written and there were times when I wished I could have been there to taste the food! In a way, it is the story of a young woman learning to believe in herself. Very sweet. I could see Georgia as a person and she did a good job at making her real. It's a book I thought about later when it came to food. I understand the high end restaurant business much better. At the end I did skip pages of what I knew would happen to get to the ending, so for me the denouement was too long. Some details could have been skimmed over. The best part and the whole story for me was the Italy scenes. For that I'm glad I read it especially with very few fiction novels set in Italy.

What do You think about Love Kitchen (2010)?

Slightly entertaining junk. The main character is much too whiny and the end seemed contrived.

A good, light summer read that takes you from New York to Tuscany and back to New York.
