This was a far out story in more ways that one. It was quirky with its take on the alien world-building a little and yet it was a sweet romance above all.The main characters are a lonely ex-marine, Gavin who has gone back to farming after getting out of the service who lives next door to his best friend, Mark, another ex-marine who took up farming. And the other main character Prince Mi'Kel who comes to earth to investigate its natural resources and farming techniques which he hopes to glean enough knowledge to help his dying world.Mi'Kel is mysteriously shot down and crash lands in Gavin's back field. Gavin finds the injured Mi'Kel and the space craft. He is incredulous, but is instantly attracted to and protective of the cute little alien.The plot is a blend of a budding romance between Gavin and Miki as well as the constant need to protect Miki from the federal agents who know about the crash landing. Gavin and Miki struggle because they both know that it is important that Miki get back to his own world with the knowledge that he as gleaned. A twist of Miki's alien physiology give them another surprising twist to their relationship.The story is low on angst though there are misunderstandings. It is just a fun read that shouldn't be taken to seriously. Gavin's dog is such a hoot and steals the scenes and I loved the little side line promise for Mark's future. But best of all, I enjoyed the bringing together of the big tough ex-marine and his little alien. Okay. Yes this is a "oh i love you so much its only been a day or two" type of story. But so what? I absolutely loved this story. I turned my "that cant happen subconscious voice" off. No, I stuffed her into a little box with a key so I could enjoy the book. Don't take that as a bad thing, but this is a romance mpreg book. the idea that men can get preggers is enough to send your mind into a whirlwind. SO to sum it all up I would recommend the book for people who want a sweet mpreg story. this isnt going to be some deep gut wrenching heartache book. Nope. this is about one marine with his farm dog who loves his little pretty alien to pieces. Whoo hoo! :)
