While the Spook's house is being rebuilt, Thomas and his master journey to the edge of the County to acquire some new books for their library. Unfortunately for them, there is only one book awaiting them in the hands of Romanian witches. Fighting strigoi and moroii is tough enough, but will Thomas' apprentice be cut short when the Vampire God arises?Another great addition to the series. My heart stopped in this one. I can't say more about the plot. I don't want to give away the big surprises. This series has not let me down yet. When I first got offered the chance to review the Wardstone Chronicles this was one of the books that convinced me that I’d want to read the series. The Fiend is bound, for now, but Tom is running out of time to destroy him. There is a sense of urgency while reading that wasn’t there in previous books. The Spook and Tom have returned to Chipenden after the war and the Spook begins to rebuild his house. The dynamics between apprentice and master have shifted permanently. Master Gregory withdraws, still teaching but its Tom that is going to be dealing with the dark from now own. What I enjoyed the most about The Spook’s Blood is Tom being at the center by design (not because he’s been separated from this master). There is actually some character growth in this book, which is something that had been missing from the previous installments. The story is darker and has some great parts but despite this I didn’t enjoy it as much as I originally thought I would. I think the Vampire aspect of the story was always going to be an issue.
