I really enjoyed this installment. Without giving away spoilers I really thought this was the best way to deal with the eventual confontation between Kate and Roland without employing some kind of deus ex machina or rewriting some of the backstory. Also I think we got a hint about where the series is going when Roland mentioned old things waking up in Persia. Perhaps Roland isn't the baddest thing out there and maybe father and daughter may have to join forces down the line... I don't know where to begin with this except to say I'm really sorry I didn't begin this series much sooner. Let's be honest it was my own reluctance and slight snobbery (vampires that are horrid soulless creatures?! Seriously lol) because I'd always viewed literary vampires as beautiful desirable characters (not twilight because I mean come on... Lol) but this series blew that right out of the water. And once I'd put aside my preconceived notions and sat back to immerse myself in the tale...I got lost. Lol five days and seven books later I feel bereft and sad and really want more. I'm to the point where small things, like Derek and going over how amazingly pretty he used to be didn't bother me. The only thing I didn't like about this end book was the lack of Derek, Andrea and julie because they are fabulous side characters. The world has been built to be well thought out and I can actually conceive of a world like this that could actually exist.Curran...geez who wouldn't like the Beast Lord. I adored him from the first time we were introduced and I'm so pleased the authors let their story be told in a realistic fashion and not succumb to popular cliche of dragging out pathetic angst and driving the reader mad. So thank you for that.Kate was a perfect mix of hardened killer and kind caring woman and I really fell in girl crush with her. To have survived so much and still have such compassion for another human being was a testament to the writers, she could have easily been a hard unforgiving woman but she just wasn't. She knew when to lean on Curran, when to push, when to pull and when to step back. I'm not sure I can wait longer for another book so I hope it won't be too long.
So sad to see the last of my Kate Daniels series done with. More please Ilona.
