I loved the first book in this series, and couldn't wait for the second one to come out, but was also a little apprehensive. What if the second book didn't live up to the first? I shouldn't have worried, because it is every bit as wonderful and even manages to pull you deeper into Allie's world. Her friends and fellow users of magic are every bit as fascinating in their own way as Allie is. I would definitely recommend it! I read the first two books in this series pretty much back to back. It has a slightly different take on urban magic user, and it's pretty good! Kept me reading. I didn't love how the heroine kept blundering into danger unprepared and needing to be rescued. Allie kept blundering into danger unprepared and needing to be rescued. She ended up in the hospital at the end of both books. She is, however, going to start being taught arcane magic in the next book, so hopefully she'll be more wise and self-sufficient. She doesn't have to be invincible, but she needs to be able to handle herself!
