I was heading towards rating this 4 STARS which was better than I expected considering the fairly low average rating. But then I reached the mandatory breakup scene and thought WTF!? Jack decides that even though they're great together, they're too different to make it last so they should just break up now. One of those differences is Greg wants children and Jack doesn't, fair enough. The other reason...Greg likes baseball more than Jack does. Say what? Shit. You should definitely break up. If this story is indicative of the author's talent as a writer, I will definitely be reading more of her work. Even though Male Seeking Male is a short story, the character development, storyline and story telling are spot on. I really liked Jack and Greg. I hope Kathleen continues their story. I want to see how their relationship progresses. This was just a taste. Also, I am not a fan of stories that turn male lovers into weak cry babies. I love when the male characters are allowed to feel and emote, but remain masculine. This story accomplishes this. Jack and Greg were masculine and even though Greg was I inexperienced at being with a man, sexually, and Jack became his "teacher", Greg was never emasculated and Jack never became an overbearing alpha who forced Greg into doing what he was not ready to do. Jack was gentle, yet forward and stayed at a pace comfortable for Greg.In addition, there is a bit of angst; but not to much for the length of the story. Yes, the angst is easily solved, but not all angst needs to be complex and solved after the characters unnecessarily bang their heads against a wall. Now, the sex is hot, sexy and progresses realistically. They don't jump right into penetration. This makes the reader want more and want to experience what Greg experiences as he experiences it. It makes you want more.Yes, they fall for each other instantly and decide to be monogamous right from the start. The monogamy seems realistic given the teacher student situation and the awareness of STD' s. As far as their romantic connection at first site, they do not profess love for one another, but there is a romantic and physical attachment from the start. Things such as this happen in real life, why not in m/m romance. Can't wait to read more by Lee.
