I little bittersweet because the guy's mother never gets over her husband having an affair. Also, I wished the story was longer to include a bit of the sexual tension between the main characters as they grew up. I would have loved to see some jealousy and forbidden kisses in high school. Those things might have been interesting. That might have made the sex a bit less sudden. As for the proposal at the end, my only complaint is that they do not even know each other that well yet besides their determinant to try and their skills in bed. It just seemed too sudden for me. Lastly, Hare's death was random in one way, and in another way, it makes sense.This story is about a girl whose other has an affair with her best friend and crush's married father. Because of this they hate her and society ostracized her and labeled her a whore. They meet again when she is 19 and share a gondola lift together. It crashes because of an avalanche and the guys hits his head badly. The girl works hard to get h and the guy to the safety of the kiosk. When they wake up after falling asleep together on the floor, they have sex. They agree to not mention this to the media. Later, he goes to her mother's bar and they go to his house together to purge each other from their systems. It doesn't work and they continue their relationship. He flies over to her town every weekend for a month. She works as a special effects artist and he is a CEO of a conglomerate. At the end of a month, he convinces her to attend a business dinner party. The other wives snub her because of her unearned reputation and because of h mother. (Her beauty?) always causes other women to label her a whore or boyfriend-stealer. Because of this, she has few friends. Is extremely shy,and tends to run from situations. After the horrible dinner, she lies and says she doesn't love the guy and and goes home. (The bathroom wall writing was funny, though.) he realizes he didn't think about e feelings of others when almost-forcing her to come to the party. Although his mother remains resolute on bringing a no-confidence vote against the guy, she loses because in the end, her sister sides with her brother and the brother remains CEO. At the same time, the girl is drawing to sort her feelings and doesn't like the coward she became, so when he proposes, she says yes and promises to try to fit in with his lifestyle.I am not sure if I would recommend this book, but I do not regret reading it. Quite enjoyable. I'm always surprised and impressed at the amount of story and quality you get in the newer HQN books. This book had a unique storyline and the main characters were so compelling, I found myself wanting more from Jolie and Cole. They were both good people trying overcome the poor and hurtful choices made by their parents.4-StarsQuick observation...the title isn't really a good representative of this book.
