Marry Me For Money (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

I won a copy of this book right when it was released and just read it. I found that I enjoyed the story Mia Kayla wove. When I later learned that it was her debut release, I was stunned. Most first works aren't this well plotted or written. The characters were all relate-able and likeable. While parts of the story seems a bit far fetched, those few instances didn't detract from the story as a whole. They actually made the smaller details and moments that much more enjoyable. Marry Me for Money follows Bethany, Beth, as she starts her new job fresh out of college. She is eager and willing to do what it takes to prove to her boss that she made the right decision. She goes as far as to agree to visit her old hometown with her client's son to earn some brownie points. The client's son, Kent, is everything Beth likes to avoid, unmotivated, spoiled and self centered. To say they get off on the wrong foot is an understatement. However, Kent does his best to make amends and they unlikely duo part amicably. As Beth and Kent spend time together as friends, they both reveal a softer side to themselves. When Kent finds himself in a bind, he turns to the one person he knows he can trust, Beth. Being the good person she is, she can't turn him down. She agrees to go along with his far-fetched plan as a means to an end. While the idea sounded great, somewhere along the way, lines get blurred and feelings get involved. Of course, nothing good can last too long and Beth learns that in a big way. She makes plans to remove herself from the situation but Kent won't let her. I really enjoyed this book. I was more than halfway through, which is when I usually have things figured out, and had no clue what was going to happen. There were moments that had me laughing to myself. Specifically, the scenes with Beth, Kent and Kent's parents. I could practically see the embarrassment rolling off of him from some of the stories his mom shared. Those glimpses into the real Kent is what really endeared him and the book to me. I look forward to reading more of Mia Kayla's work in the future. Review by Sherry5 stars. I'd give more if I could! Ever have a book that left you thinking, wish that would have been me? This was the one for me. It was the most charming love story. Once I started it I was so into the story I couldn't put it down until I was completely finished. The characters were perfectly written by the author. It had it all, friendship, love and even family problems.Beth moved to the big city for a job and didn't have many friends. She met Kent and they became friends. Loved the story of their friendship. Then Beth started dating Brian, thought he could be the one. After her mother ran up a lot of bills in her name, she needed money to pay them off and Kent needed to be married to inherit his money, so they made an arranged marriage, little did they know how it would turn out. I definitely recommend this book if your looking for a wonderful love story.
