Medals In The Attic (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

This is the second book in the Annie's Attic series written by different authors. It is a sort of cozy mystery series and while I am not a cozy mystery fan, I do like this series. I would have read this before some of the later books but I ordered it through interlibrary loan last April and finally called the interlibrary loan office to cancel the request when it had not arrived after 10 months only to be told by the librarian that there were other copies available so here it is. In this volume, Annie, a widow from Texas who used to spend summers with her grandmother in Maine, is working to fix up the house her grandma left her. She is still reeling from the death a year earlier of her husband and missing her daughter and twin grandchildren back in Texas but is settling in nicely with the people in Stony Point, Maine. Suddenly, there are mysteries. Who do the military medals in the attic belong to (Medal of Honor and a Purple Heart) and who is willing to murder her to keep her from finding out the answer? And who- in a town where no one locks their homes or cars- stole the medals and some photos and papers from her car? Dig in and find out This is a cozy book to spend with on a rainy (or snowy day). This is the second book in this series.....they are a very quick read, but I love them. There is a mystery involved, but it's not a dead body or a murder. This woman inherited her grandmother's house and as she finds things, the mystery is who is the person in the picture or who does this item belong to. As she digs, she learns more and more about her grandmother and herself, and she comes across some pretty cool antiques. Very pleasant way to spend an afternoon/evening. If you are looking for high drama, fast action or blood and guts, don't bother. If you'd like just a nice story about a widow, reconnecting with an old friend, making new friends and delving into the treasures in her grandmother's attic then this series is for you.

What do You think about Medals In The Attic (2010)?

This was a cute book. I enjoyed it, but maybe not enough to read the entire series.
