Mi Vida Como Estrella De Cine (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
This is a squeal to My Life as a Book. Derek loves to skateboard. One day while skating he is discovered by a Hollywood movie agent. The agent gives him a job as a stunt boy for the leading character in a movie. While working the job Derek learns a lot of life lessons. Some of the main themes in the novel are reading difficulties, responsibility, friendship, and bullying. This series reminds me a lot of the Diary of A Wimpy kid series. Fans of that collection should check this one out. Plot: Twelve year old Derek Fallon has a lot on his plate. He and his family provide foster care for a capuchin monkey, he's performing stunts in a movie starring a popular teen actress, and his best friend is mad because of this. Why I picked it up: My library system is considering inviting this author to give presentations in our libraries next fall. So, the committee was assigned to read books by the authors on our short list. Why I kept reading: I enjoyed getting to know Derrick and his friends. This was a light funny read, but still had great messages about friendship and taking responsibility for ones actions. I recommend this to fans of Diary of a Wimpy Kid and the Alvin Ho books. You won't be disappointed.
