She hadn’t even checked the camp to see what food was there, but she’d known that there was a cooler. And she didn’t think that Jasper would have left his brother alone without any food. Jasper did seem cruel, but he didn’t want his brother to starve. Perhaps she’d thought that they’d find a house before they got hungry, and that they’d both be out of the woods and home by dinner. But truthfully, she thought that she’d simply been scatterbrained. She’d been so concerned with escaping that she hadn’t thought about anything else. She wasn’t very good at this, was she? “Well,” she said aloud, “it’s not like I’ve been kidnapped before. Maybe it’s the kind of thing that you get better at with practice.” Not that she wanted practice. She just wanted to get home. Ryder looked up at her, another quizzical expression on his face. She sighed. “Oh, I wish that you understood anything I was saying.” He cocked his head to one side. She sighed again. She was starting to get hungry.
