Mijn Top 8 (2009) - Plot & Excerpts

This book was beyond excellent, I could NOT put it down. Madison Macdonald is 16 year old girl, and just like every other 16 year old her life is completely dependent on social media, but over spring break someone hacks into her account and spills secrets of her friends, all over the internet causing her friends to turn their back on her, and her boyfriend to break up with her. Can Madison figure out who's impersonating her, reclaim her friends and love back? Top 8 by Katie Finn is a typical teenage drama with a little more of a twist to it- profile hacking. Throughout the story Madison faces having to deal with her annoying younger brother, getting her ex back, and finding her hacker. But also a new boy comes into her life and a few new friends as well. Madison faces old time rivals (that she never knew about) and issues with her friends now. Madison finally finds her hacker (not telling who) and eventually gets back to her "normal" life. I thought this book was a good quick read, but it could have used better red herrens and created more clues for the reader. I'd rate the book a 7 out of 10. There may have been many good elements to the story line but it was just missing something. My favorite part of the book is when Madison finally figured out that Justin wasn't the one and that Nate actually was. This book is mostly appropriate for people in their teens and middle school students. People who like to read about friendship dramas would like this book. This book is all in all a good read for any high school or middle school student.
