We sit in a circle on the floor. I’ve forgotten how many of the bottles on the floor belonged to me, but I’m drunk enough for this. “Lindsey, I’m not five. I’m not going to play truth or dare.” Lindsey’s tank-top strap slips off of her shoulder as she crosses her arms and pouts. “Trevor. I said, truth or dare!” Everyone else in the circle stares at me. Kurt and Chip stare a little too intensely. I guess I’m bringing the party down, but aren’t we a little too old for this kind of game? I guess that’s what I get for coming to her 90s theme party. What was so great about that decade anyway? “Trevor!” “Okay, okay, okay,” I say. “I give up. Dare.” A smile breaks out across Lindsey’s face as she thinks of some new way to torture me. “I dare you to challenge Kurt to an arm wrestling match. Best two out of three.” I look over to the large football player and he’s already smirking. We all know how this is going to go down. Our skirmishes are barely long enough to call them matches.
