Missing Lily (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

Okay, I know all these Swooney Books can't possibly be this good! Hehe! I'm stuck on giving 5 to all my latest books read, but what can I say, this is another " Must Read" for all my daughters. You've got to read this one! So intense and well written, I loved the characters and remembered Ella from her book, and loved hearing more of her story too. This is one that keeps you drawn in immediately right to the satisfying end. Love, love love! “Missing Lily” is the sequel to “Just Ella”, and yes, I do think the reader benefits from reading them in order. I enjoyed the first one so much that I could hardly wait for #2 to arrive. It hooked me just as the first one, and I found I didn’t want to put it down! It’s an excellent sequel and Annette K. Larsen rises to the select group of my favorite authors. “Missing Lily” is the story of the seventh daughter of the King and Queen of Dalthia. Due to Princess Lylin’s courageous escape from an attempted kidnapping, she seeks refuge in the stable of a nearby estate. She is discovered by the owner, Lord Fallon, and taken into his home where he and his staff nurse Lylin’s serious wounds. Because of the bad weather, impassible roads, and her battered body, it is impossible for her to return home. Princess Lylin decides to not tell them who she really is, and simply calls herself Lily. The story takes off from there…It is easy to see how Lord Fallon and his staff are taken with sweet Lily. And of course feelings of caring and love emerge from all involved. It was not difficult at all for me to have these interesting people become of my heart and soul from the very beginning, just as Ella and Gavin did in #1. Even the bad guy is a fascinating character; he never ceases to scare us with his questionable and unpredictable behavior. He is an important part of the story as it progresses. There are several things that I like about Annette Larsen’s way of telling her stories. One is the pace of the plot: instant grabber; things are revealed at important points throughout the story instead of dragging us readers along then dumping it out in the last twenty pages. (Not a fan of that!) Another one: we get to know the characters in depth; adds richness to the story and I feel emotion. I admire the strength of the female characters.Yet another: the love story has such sweetness; we readers feel their pain and crave their happiness. And finally: the impact of the story makes me want to read more. In this case I think there will be another sister’s story…I hope! “Missing Lily” is clean, and absolutely appropriate for any teen girl, and enjoyable for adults. (In fact, there are some really important values and lessons that could benefit teen girls.)Well done again, Annette Larsen! I loved both stories, will happily add them to my personal library, and will gladly pay full price for #3 when it’s released.
