Montana Rose - Mary Connealy(*SPOILER ALERT!!!*)Red was such a sweetie. He was so kind and patient with Cassie. He really did treat her like a China doll at first - being so gentle and careful, like she was a fragile butterfly. I thought that was cute - and hilarious - how he was dying for her to sass him. He was literally telling her to sass him and rewarding her with a kiss when she finally did.Cassie was sweet, and fun, and way too obedient! Stupid Griff beat her own personality out of her, making her his quiet, obedient wife. I do not like that guy! And Cassie really thought she'd done something wrong when Griff was mean to her - how sad! She so picked the perfect thing to say to sass Red. That was so funny. I thought it was kind of weird when she was in labor. I guess she was going crazy or something. Her POV was hilarious with Red supposedly being a mind reader. Her attitude after having the baby was kind of annoying. I guess it is emotional business.Belle had a lot of patience. I seriously don't think I could've been nice to stupid Anthony like she was. I'd have been way to tempted to stomp on his lazy worthless face the entire time. Despite all she says, she does need a husband. Just one that's hardworking, and sweet, and Godly.Wade was bully. A pitiful bully that I feel sorry for. Poor guy. I knew they'd be able to reform him. He was really such a little boy inside, needing someone to love him. And his father was such a lousy, two-faced jerk!Muriel was so kind and helpful. Her stubborn and sweet personality was wonderful. She was a good friend. This book was good. The writing was great. It made me laugh, wrinkle my nose in disgust, shiver, and smirk. I loved it. I would give it 3.5 and I have the whole series and I am planning on reading the other 2 books because I did like the author and characters.I haven't read any of the reviews but this book takes place in the 1800's and some people may find this book hard to read because we met Cassie (the main character) who just lost her husband and she is being forced into marriage as soon as the funeral is over. The town doesn't have many women so the men fight for a woman as soon one is available. Red comes to Cassie's rescue and marries her who doesn't know if Cassie is a Christian and but felt he needed to save her from the harm of the single men in town. Now remember this is set in the 1800's, Cassie's first husband, Griffin, taught Cassie to be a submissive wife but what Griffin wanted is just someone he could boss around and have someone that doesn't have a say at all and if she did speak she was abused. Cassie doesn't know any better and Red has his work cut out ahead of him. Will Cassie ever change from her known name around town "China Doll" that Griffin had created or will Cassie break that mold and allow God to make her into the woman He wants her to be.We met other characters for the next book, Belle and her family, and I she is the totally opposite of Cassie and she is trying to learn to be a better wife to her 3rd husband (who is a no good dog of a husband. I would have kicked him out long ago if it was me) but I have to share a line in from Belle's chapter because I laughed so hard and I am so glad I was home at the time.Montana Rose Chapter 20:Belle just told her girls that there is a Bible verse that she heard once that being kind to people who are bad to you is like heaping hot coals on their heads. The next few lines is what got me to laugh out loud. "I'm going to see if I can talk the idiot into coming down so I can get started being nice."
What do You think about Montana Rose (2009)?
Not a bad start to a series. I will have to check out the others. More of a review to come.

3 1/2 stars. This was a cute, quick read with a touch of her standard humor.
