More Than Lovers (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

Title: More Than LoversSeries: More Than…Book 2Author: Jess DeeGenre: Erotic/RomanceBlurb: It was just sex…until the booty calls got serious. When Sarah Deacon’s new relationship comes to an unexpected end, she heads straight for the one place she can always find no-strings comfort—her neighbor’s bed. Charlie, who’s made it clear sex is all he wants, is only too happy to oblige. Hot sex with a gorgeous surfer any time she’s single and in the mood? Oh, yeah. She’s all signed up for that course. Charlie Hudson knows he’s all wrong for the sexy geneticist. After all, what could a long-haired school dropout have in common with a classy academic? Nothing…except maybe a burning desire for her that just won’t quit no matter how often they have sex. Sensing the breakup has damaged her self-worth, Charlie cooks up a plan to introduce her to three “appropriate” men who’ll show her she’s the most beautiful woman in the world. But when his matchmaking begins to work too well, he realizes there’s only one thing worse than not having her in his bed. Losing the chance to make her his forever. Warning: One blond-haired, blue-eyed surfer dude + red-hot booty calls = a book you will not be able to put down (unless you plan to go surfing…or jump your guy.)Thoughts: This book had an interesting storyline. Charlie is in love with Sarah, however he thinks she is way too good for him, so he sets out to find someone who he feels is worthy of her. But he also feels the urge to keep giving in to their booty call status - as well, as cross boundaries that they haven't before - because he can't keep himself from trying to reinforce his own role in her life. While Sarah is obviously attracted to him, she also knows that Charlie isn't the type of guy who wants to be tied down to marriage. When she realizes that she's in love with him, can she make this more than just a booty call? Can she convince Charlie that they can turn "sometimes" into "forever"? The storyline sounded interesting, and from the beginning I was really caught up in the plot. I enjoyed how Simon wanted to find happiness for Sarah, regardless of whether that happiness was with him or not. But I really enjoyed how their sexual encounters would intensify the more Simon felt possessive and scared of losing Sarah. The way their relationship changed into something more substantial was interesting to read. However, the book lacked a little something for me. While you felt the sexual desire between the two, it felt a little to emotionless for me. It seemed like there wasn't much between them but the sex. It was supposedly there, but I just didn't "feel" it. I wish it would have drawn me in a little bit more emotionally, but overall it was a good solid read. It wasn't a compelling read for me, but an overall good book.Rate: B-Review by: Sarahhttp://www.thebookreadinggals.com

Some authors have the talent to completely blow me away with their books and Jess Dee is at the top of this list. As I've said before she takes tropes and themes in romance that have often been tackled before and gives the a whole other spin. When I started this book I was sceptical as to how the "friends with benefits" thing was going to transform into a real HEA. I shouldn't have been and should've trusted that Jess Dee would hit it out of the park once again. I've read and read quite some dirty books and Jess Dee brings dirty to the table like nobody's business. And next to the dirty there was a wonderful love story that seemed one-sided in the beginning but soon it was clear that it wasn't. I turned the last page with a satisfied smile on my face and ready for the final book in this trilogy!

What do You think about More Than Lovers (2013)?

Liked this one more than the first. I think there was a bit more of a connection with both the main characters, where as the first one was more of 'wham!' speeding car crash situation.I like that this is Sarah from the first book! I thought that was a nice way of connecting the series without it really connecting the series. The only thing I didn't really like, was actually the climactic 'talk' at the end. It wasn't that it wasn't good. I just didn't like the words that were chosen. It just didn't feel natural to me. The rest of the convo felt fine, but the first initial sentences felt weird to me.

Slick‘s review posted on Guilty Pleasures Book ReviewsReview copy provided for an honest review4 STARSAhhh….Jess Dee is the master of hot, sexy, and thoroughly enjoyable novellas. The More Than series is perfect for those moments when you need a quick fix but don’t have a ton of time to get into a long book. Do they drive me a little nuts because I want more? Sure, but because I know this going in I’m never disappointed. In More Than Lovers, Jess turns the heat up to broil when surfer Charlie Hudson and his geneticist neighbor, Sarah Deacon find themselves at a crossroads and trying to figure out what path to take.Opposites attract, we’ve heard that our whole lives and Charlie and Sarah couldn’t be more different. Charlie dropped out of high school and opened his own surf school. He loves what he does and he’s good at it but deep down his lack of education makes him doubt his self worth. Sarah works at the university teaching genetics, she’s well educated and well bred. While she’s enjoyed her “fuck buddy” relationship with Charlie she really wants more and she thought she had it with her latest boyfriend, but when she’s dumped she heads straight to Charlie for the comfort he always provides. Charlie is always more than willing to provide exactly what she needs.Holy hotness when these two are together they melt the polar ice caps. Seriously folks they have some major chemistry and although Sarah would like more from Charlie, he’s told her from the start he’s not the one for her. When he realizes he’s developed real feelings for her he decides to find her a man to settle down with all the while he’s waiting for her when she gets home, screwing her silly, and sleeping over something they’ve never done in the past. This is a fun and sexier than hell novella you do not want to miss. I enjoyed watching these characters come to terms with the change in their relationship and for finally with a little help from Charlie’s friend Sam figuring it all out. More Than Lovers is a superb addition to this series. Once again Jess Dee has proves she can pack a whole lot of story in a little package!

This one gets 5 fantastic stars, and I'd give it 10 if I could! I loved the first one in this series More Than Friends, but I have to say that this one was even better! As I've said many times before, Jess Dee is a master with emotions and making you fall in love with her characters. Sarah and Charlie have a connection that neither of them really intended to go further than intense scorching hot sex, but over the last 18 months of their affair feelings have somehow evolved and they find themselves looking at each other in a different light. Charlie is convinced he isn't good enough for her despite how much he cares. Sarah on the other hand is convinced that Charlie is just looking for a good time and wouldn't be interested in anything further. Only seeking what he thinks is best for Sarah, Charlie takes it upon himself to find her perfect match in the form of a bet that she go on 3 dates of his choosing. Although Sarah reluctantly accepts the terms of the bet, Charlie and Sarah find themselves moving closer and closer as their once clear lines start to blur. I highly suggest this one guys for not only the fact that it has some scoring hot love scenes, but that it was just such an overall sexy, sweet, and emotional read!
