Murder Runs In The Family (2001) - Plot & Excerpts

Number 3 in the Southern Sisters Mysteries is just as delightful as the two preceding ones were. The basic premise is the same-a murder occurs, the sisters get involved when they never should be because it's NONE of their business, but they don't seem to be able to help themselves. In the end they catch the guilty person with one of them being hurt in the process. This time it is a well-known genealogist who is our murder victim. With many twists and turns the guilty party is brought to justice once again.I continue to love these books. I feel as if I know Patricia Ann and Mary Alice, our heroines. As a matter of fact, I probably went to school with people just like them and wouldn't be surprised to find that their twins go to my church! If you want to know how real Southerners act and speak, this is the series for you. None of the overdone drawl or "dahling" worked to death. Great series. It is your basic escapism reading. I highly recommend them!

What do You think about Murder Runs In The Family (2001)?

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

I loved the relationship between the two sisters, Patricia Anne (Mouse) and Mary Alice. Their conversation and thoughts are hardly fiction. Anne George builds great characters who experience the "addictiveness" of genealogy in a fun mystery. The relationsnhip of Mary Alice and Patricia Anne is true sisterhood as described on page 240. "An hour later, as I was going to my car, I heard Sister say, "Mouse?" I looked back to see her silhouettd in the door. 'You really are adopted, you know."'I hope she could see my middle finger pointed heavenward."Another of my favorite lines is from page 206:"The stories. Now those I could get hooked on. All the stories of the world are found in each family. A walk through any cemetery is a walk through the world."
—Anna Dalhaimer Bartkowski

Patricia Ann (Mouse) and Mary Alice (Sister) meet Meg, a geneologist, at the wedding of Mary Alice's daughter. Later they meet her for lunch which is interupted by another friend of Meg's. Meg steps away to investigate some geneological mystery and ends up taking a nose dive from the 10th floor of the Birmingham courthouse. Was is suicide or did Meg have a little help? These Southern Sisters Mysteries are so much fun. The characters are really taking shape by this installment. The mystery is almost beside the point. Just sit back and enjoy.
