Seems to be a collection of old jokes, packaged into a picture book with little creative input (apart from the illustrations, of course). I'm not sure how this can be called writing, to be honest; it's basically a repackaging of someone else's material, like one of those gift books you find on the counter in bookstores. That doesn't mean kids won't laugh at it, but it leaves an odd taste in the mouth somehow. Loved this book to share with kids AND parents. I would use it for an evening story time where you have older children present. The dad in this book is like one of those uncles we all have. You know, the one who always makes bad puns and says the same silly things all the time just to crack you up? All in all, a fun story to read to kids who already understand jokes (perhaps age 6+.)I think this would be fun to share with a classroom of older children (7-11) to use as a creative writing prompt.
What do You think about My Dad Thinks He's Funny (2010)?
Lots of standard phrases taken literal by dad which some could identify with.
