BEST IN THE SERIES*NO spoilers*J.L. Langley's "My Regelence Rake" is the third and lowest rated Sci-Regency novel, and I just don't get it. I LOVED this book. It could be because from the minute Prince Colton was introduced in the first book of the series "My Fair Captain" (and in a group scene with all his brothers, no less), I zeroed in on this hunk. Okay, I admit it. If I was a captain attending the many Jane Austen-esque balls found in the series (see my description of Langley's creatively imagined world in my review of "My Fair Captain"), I would have asked Prince Colton to dance. And probably been turned down flat. (Bastard!) ;) Indisputably the alpha male of all the Regency heirs, I was thrilled to find Langley's third installment to be Colton's story. This dude is cocky and hot. You just know his bravado would only allow a love interest that matched, or exceeded, his own skills- in anything. (Wink, wink.) He finds one, of course, in the capable and handsome Captain Hastings, the Captain of the Guard, who Colton has longed for since he was a boy. Thrown together, the developing sexual tension between Prince Colton and Captain Hastings is palpable throughout the story, and it's resolution is sexy as Hell. I hope J.L. Langley give us another story. She has created a rich universe that sparks the imagination. Not every book is for every reader, and this one was not for me. I don't like reading series books out of order, but when I saw this at the library, I thought why not. Normally I can follow the general story line to sufficiently follow the story. As much as I tried, I couldn't follow this one. I couldn't tell where scenes changes would happen because a good deal of the story stopped, started. and rotated randomly. It was like the author assumed I could read his mind and didn't bother to explain or revisit any previously given details. I really tried to like this book, I generally like M/M books, but this one was just pushing it with a half told story. If as much detail to the steamy scenes was given to the whole story, it wouldn't have been so bad.
What do You think about My Regelence Rake (2012)?
King and his consort forever! And i loved the horse who thinks she's a dog.
