This book has actually turned into something of a mystery all in its own right. I went to find the book so that I could write this review, only to discover it seems to be missing! I have checked my boxes of books to get rid of, my shelves of books to keep, my stack of read but not reviewed, and my to-be-read stacks. It's simply "poofed" from the existence of my house. Hunh. So needless to say, I had to snag my synopsis from Goodreads this time. I'm a little bummed, because I do remember enjoying this book. My Spy has a little bit of everything for everyone, and it's part of a series so you can stay with the characters a bit. This is a story that's got romance, action, suspense, and humor at times. The character's interactions are realistic, their personalities are dynamic, and while the military aspect might be a touch outside realistic it's entertaining. Ha! I just figured out why I can't find it. I checked it out from the library. I was just thinking, "Wait. I know I've read Annie's sister's story, so why don't I have the book...let me check something." I looked up the series, and yep, there they were. Hot Pursuit is the next in the series and it's a you-should-read-this-book too. So, if you haven't heard of or read Christina Skye yet, then I'd recommend you check her out. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Her characters are definitely her strength and she plays to it. So you're in for some fun!
Choppy, disjointed, time sequences don't jive and a whole lot of technical issues that distract from what is a very good plot. The angst level is also on the high side. Annie and SEAL Sam got friendly at her resort in Big Sur, CA while he was undercover working to find a traitor. Someone is sabotaging programs at the Naval Weapons Test Center, China Lake, CA (Go China Lake! I actually have been at this facility.) Sam is back in Washington to report to Admiral Howe. On his way, he encounters a runaway school bus full of children and becomes a national hero when he stops the bus. He is thrown and badly injured, losing his memory also. The Navy sends him back to Annie to rehab and, hopefully, get his memory back. This is difficult for Annie. When he left he took a piece of her heart with him. They rekindle their passion, except at first Sam doesn't remember her. The bad guys track him down and the good guys win.
What do You think about My Spy (2002)?
Co-owner of exclusive resort agrees to do physical therapy with recent ex-lover Navy SEALS Hero who was recently injured from saving a schoolbus & who has temporary amnesia. But she can't divulge their r/s history per request of his employers b/c it may distract from his remembering crucial govt information. This Skye book was an average read. Nothing glaringly bad & nothing too exciting either. Romance & action-suspense were predictable. Sexual chemistry & love scenes were ho-hum. Characters, character development, & emotional pull of book were tepid. Partial recommendation for an average romance.

Annie and Sam had an incredibly hot and heavy fling a month ago while Sam was sailing down to Mexico. They both knew it couldn't last long but that didn't stop it from hurting when they had to part ways. Now here Annie is, still at her spa and resort, seeing Sam on television saving a bunch of kids on an out of control school bus.Not long after she gets a phone call from a government agent letting her know they are bringing Sam to her spa for recuperation and physical therapy, from her. But Sam doesn't remember any of their time together. He doesn't even remember her, which might be the thing that hurts the most.So now Annie has to deal with not only helping this man she has feelings for recuperate, but a meddling sister, and a stalkerish client who refuses to take no for an answer.I felt so bad for Annie when she met Sam again and he had no idea who she was. You could just feel the kick to the gut. And even though she is outrageous I loved Annie's sister, Taylor. I want to be friends with her! She was awesome and protective of Annie and I laughed when it turned out she knew Izzie from some of her book research.Sam was a mystery from the beginning. I couldn't ever really predict what he was going to do or say so it was enjoyable reading his reactions. One thing that confused me was his memory loss, it was a little random but it added to the story so I can't complain!
