Mystery In White (1937) - Plot & Excerpts

Mystery in White is okay. Slow going in places. A mixture of irritating and bland characters. Standard old-timey mystery and suspense fare that doesn't hold up well in the modern age.Lots of wasted dialogue and banal filler that could've been cut to make the book leaner. Not a bad story, but the pay off isn't worth slogging through the whole thing. And I imagine many readers will struggle to motivate themselves enough to finish. An oddball group of passengers get snowbound on a train on Christmas eve. In a hurry to get somewhere, they leave the train. They end up snowbound in a deserted country manor that just happens to have plenty of supplies, even a boiling kettle. The problem is, I really didn't like a single one of the characters. The conversations were annoying and banal. By the time there's a murder victim, I didn't much care. The resolution wasn't convincing. All in all readable, but disappointing.
