Ciara Griffin is a former con-artist hoping to get a job as an intern at the local radio station. The DJ's at the station each have their own show, dedicated to 50's rock, 60's psychedelia, 90's grunge. When Ciara is hired, she finds out that the DJ's are vampires. They want her to help save the station from being bought out. The station is their link to their original life. If they lose the station, the vampires will just "fade". So, Ciara comes up with the an idea...announce to the world the vampires are real, rebranding the station as "WVMP, the lifeblood of Rock-n-roll". Soon ratings are going up...but other powerful vampires want to shut them down.I thought the author's writing style was amusing, but I wasn't crazy about the heroine. She just wasn't very likable. I'd give this book 3 Stars. The author of Wicked Game has woven a unique concept for the vampire genre. It is not your usual run of the mill vampire book. The story centers on WVMP Radio Station where all the DJ’s are vampires. Vampires who are stuck in an era of music from their “time”. Each Vampire dresses, talks, and thinks like the era they were “turned”.The main character, Ciara is the new intern at WVMP and is quickly attracted to the DJ Shane McAllister from the 90s. Now let me tell you, Shane McAllister is seriously sexy, and his and Ciara’s love story is one of the best I have read in a long time. Everything about this book is fresh and new in the world of vampire books. And the music plays such an important part of the story. The author does a wonderful job of incorporating different eras of music into the plot.If you are looking for something different and a wonderful endearing love story, this book is for you.I give it a 5-star rating.
What do You think about Nachtrausch (2000)?
Combining my three favorite things...music, books and vamps. AWESOME series.
