Abi, a female vicar, finds herself experiencing visions of Jesus's fabled visit to Britain. She struggles to reconcile the man she's seeing with all too human emotions and flaws with the saviour she worships. She must to this if she is to understand the message they are trying to tell her. It is Erskine's usual blend of past and present with a backdrop of mysticism and paranormal. It was a slow start - about a hundred pages to get going - but developed into a stunning story. It took me ages to get through this. Somehow, I didn't want to give up, but I found it hard going. It was an interesting take on the theories of what Jesus did and where he went before his public ministry. At times, the characters were endearing, but I found the story a bit frustrating and the use of people's shortened name, even in formal situations, very annoying (the little things)! Perhaps it was just a bit mystical for me.....
