Ne Me Tente Pas (2009) - Plot & Excerpts

I'm only writing this because most of the other reviewers don't seem to have found this book incredibly funny, or if they did they haven't mentioned it. Yeah, the plot is silly, and Zoe quite possibly has a B-movie accent, and the last part of the book kind of falls apart due to unnecessary one-dimensional villainy. Someone needs to get Loretta Chase to stop writing villain POVs. Or maybe stop writing villains at all.But oh man, this is one of the most hilarious romances I've read in awhile. This is not a book to take seriously and if you do I can imagine you will have many complaints. I don't think this is meant to be a deep, dark tale about the characters' struggles. It is just good fun. Zoe Lexham, daughter of Lord Lexham, had always been a bolter, but at the age of 12 that was her undoing ... a maid sold her into white slavery in Egypt by convincing everyone that she had simply run away ... and of course, with Zoe's history she was believed.12 years later Zoe manges to outwit her captives and return to England to her family, however Lucien de Grey, Duke of Marchmont who is a close family friend is determined to prove that she is an imposter.Although as soon as he sets eyes on her, realises that it is the very same Zoe Octavia that drove him to distraction when he was a young boy. As you can imagine Zoe's reputation, and thereby her family's is now standing in tatters, and she is being hailed as the "Harem Girl" in the press. Lucien therefore takes on the task of making her respectable and accepted enough to be presented at Court, thanks to his title and friendship with the Royal Family. He's the most popular bachelor in the Beau Monde, but can he pull it off and remain heart whole? A 4.5 star read.

What do You think about Ne Me Tente Pas (2009)?

There are some things that I am invariably drawn to, some of them are utterly ridiculous, this book seemed to hit on all of them.A girl that had no sense of proper decorum.Childhood sweethearts (of a sort). A deep, familial connection.A hero that's a bit ... lost, but not an idiot, and certainly not mean, and not quick to anger. A hero that apologizes when he's wrong, which he often is.A heroine that is so intelligent, and knows herself, and knows what she wants, and does what she can to seize it. I really loved everything about this book.
