I could tell there was a lot of things I wasn't getting when I read this book - like who any of these people are, and why should we care, etc. Reading the reviews afterwards, I guess this is a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen spin-off or something? There was nothing in the book to suggest this, at all. But, it was still kind of a cool Jules Verne/HP Lovecraft mashup, even though I wish I had read some previous stuff so I would be able to care about the characters a bit more. Sure, Moore claims to have left capes & tights behind, but here we are still working the great League of Extraordinary Gentlemen franchise. The fact that this is L'il Miss Nemo and not her renowned dad is of little consequence since this is a major league walk-through of Lovecraft, especially Mountains of Madness. Moore wears his affection for Lovecraft on his sleeve and this is far more satisfying than horrors like Neonomicon.
