Siri is a superb heroine, an entirely human self-doubting psychotherapist and good friend. I read this book in backwards series order, but still enjoyed this first of the series and it was quite soothing to know in advance that she would survive to appear once again in the second book. Her interactions with her patients, particularly as we begin to suspect that one of them is stalking her is fascinating. I hope there will be another book! Though well written, this thriller did not hold my attention. It was easy to read a chapter or two and set it aside. Though the narrator is a psychologist, she seems detached from her world and her character is difficult to empathize with. Her flaws are frustrating rather than enduring and relatable. The plot is intriguing but has a tendency to lag until the end. Unfortunately, the characters make the novel difficult to read. They are not a likable group. Overall, it is an uneven work. One of they lucky few to receive an advance reading copy compliments of Goodreads First Reads and the author.
A psychologically intense Swedish crime novel featuring a psychologist... Lots of twists and turns.

Ok. Another Scandanavian author newly translated - psych mystery, not gory.
