Night Unbound (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

My Review:Wow, wow, wow. This is a series that I've pretty much exclusively listened to on audio, but when this book began, I quickly abandoned the audio for the speed of actual book reading because the story was so good, I had to know what happened as soon as possible. We met Zach in the last story and I'll admit that I was intrigued with him right away. Wow...talk about a hero. I won't give any spoilers, but when he comes through that plate glass window, my heart was his...completely and totally. When I want to read about an Alpha hero that will do anything for his heroine...Zach is the kind of character I'm thinking about. Wow...I loved him! Zach is an Other and as such he's never even really been around humans. That's why it overwhelms him when he meets Lisette...he doesn't know what to do with all these emotions and feelings...both mental and physical. I loved that. It created a sweet vulnerability to him that was so in contrast to his serious alpha male, take-no-prisoners persona. He's definitely a character filled with contrasts. He's extremely loyal, but once he's ticked off you don't want to be in his path. And I don't think anyone can talk about this book without touching on Zach's relationship with Seth. Out of everyone, Zach has the biggest right to hate Seth and want him to go down, but there's that loyalty again...and fairness. Zach won't do that. He's an extremely empathetic character which is amazing since he's never really been around other people, but he's spent quite a bit of time observing them and learning how they react to things. And if there was a single character that my heart wept more for than Zach in this book, it was Seth. Wow...talk about a guy who is teetering at his breaking point. I hope that Dianne Duvall pushed his character limits so hard in this book as a sign that his book is coming soon. Dare I hope for next?? The more I learn about Seth, the more I fall in love with him. I loved how the relationship between him and Zach develop in this one. He has David, but it still feels like he's so alone in this huge job he's undertaken. And then finally I'm gonna talk about the romance...I know, right? It's just that these books are so much more encompassing than just the romance. There's that whole group dynamic which Dianne Duvall writes so incredibly well. But I did love Lisette and Zach together. They are both amazingly tough fighters. For so long Lisette is hiding Zach in this book. I loved her loyalty to him...but she doesn't lose her loyalty to the immortals either or her sense of right and wrong when Seth confronts her. I love how she stands up to him. For the first time, we are truly seeing cracks in Seth's armor and I liked seeing her remain cognizant of his vulnerabilities even though she's not truly aware of how deep those cracks go. And the fact that she opened her home to both these men...LOVE!Everything about this book was so freaking good. I highly recommend both the series and this book. I think you could probably read this book if you haven't read the rest of the series, but I think you should read them all. It's truly one of the best paranormal series out there! Book 5 in the Unbound series by Dianne Duvall is near the top of the series for me. Ms. Duvall likes her vampire attacks on North Carolina campuses and this one was definitely centered around UNCG (which explains a lot actually). Lisette d'Alençon’s story revolves around Zach, a loner. Not one of the Immortal Guardians, Zach is something else, something more and unwelcome around Seth and his family of unsung heroes. But Lisette feels differently about this brooding warrior and hides her attraction even from the all-knowing Seth until it’s almost too late. Great book and great series – check it out!

What do You think about Night Unbound (2014)?

I need Seth's book. He's slowly deteriorating and it's breaking my poor heart.
