This book I found because I bought the second book of his series on a book market. I choose that book, because it had a praise from one of my favourite writers J.R. Ward on it. But to start a series by reading book 2 isn’t a good idea I thought, so I bought book 1 too.I don’t regret it at all. It is a great book, okay not totally as good as the black dragger brotherhood series, but it is a great series and I sure want to read more books of this series.Leah is a strong woman and I like that. She is also a cop and she gets involved in the Nightkeeper business because she and her brother got influences long ago when they were children by a god. At the beginning of the book Leah hasn’t much luck. But then Strike is coming on her path and helps her. From that moment her life changes, but can they have a happily ever after together? For the answer to that you have to read the book. I really liked this book and I think I'll like the rest of the series. What I liked :- A really good story. I wanted to stick with it and find out what happened and what were the answers to the mysteries. - The characters. interesting, varied and just enough background given to make them interesting to me for the books to come. - Depth of research and knowledge which gave the story an authentic feel. Jessica Andersen knows her stuff re the Mayan culture and mythology. And what she didn't know I am very sure she made it her business to find out. I really like it when an author goes to these lengths. Didn't Like so much: - The almost constant self cutting. Sheesh. I appreciate the nature of the magic requires it but lordy the escalation was making me physically wince. The fact I couldn't put the book down and was even reading at my desk at the office when I ought to have been working. :-)
veramente sarebbero 2 stelline e mezzo...primo e decisamente l'ultimo della saga che leggerò....
