No More Mr. Nice Guy (2015) - Plot & Excerpts

There's nothing quite like an exhilarating read with a strong alpha male. Goodness knows that I look forward to all that dangerous yummy hotness but what about my "good guy" heroes? Give me a good guy any day of the week and I will be happy. However, finding some dependable cute guys is a bit hard to find in a romance novel. That is, until now. Alan's is your ordinary every day dependable, cute and loyal pediatrician. Whoa, wait, he's a doctor? Oh yeah! He's the established good guy who is tired of being so good. Alan wants to give Carroll everything she desires and sometimes that means being a man who brings excitement and passion. I loved Alan's character and my heart melted when he tried to change himself to get Carroll to marry him. Bottom line, he just wanted to marry Carroll. Alan's character was the kind that sticks around and do what it takes to keep his woman happy.Carroll felt like she was your ordinary "cute" yet average woman. Sure Alan was safe, loyal and dependable but at a certain point, Carroll craved excitement and passion. I loved her reaction when the new Alan stepped forward. It reminded me of the say, "be careful what you wish for". Although Carroll falls in love with the new Alan even more, a part of her wants "her" Alan back. The predictable Alan. One of my favorite scenes in the book is when Alan visits her at work. Carroll is a speech therapist and it's evident how well these two would work together as parents.Just a side note, how adorable is that cover? Yes, the book is as sweet/sensual as the cover suggests. Okay, back to the review. No More Mr. Nice Guy was a fun filled read that had me wishing more men would take the initiative to breathe a little bit of life into their romance. The characters worked well with one another and the ending had me saying "awwwww". I love Ms. Greene's writing style because she writes about everyday characters that I can relate to. I highly recommend you pick up this quick read for an exciting escape from an ordinary life. Ladies, when you're finished with the book, leave it around the house as a hint to your man of the little things he can do to sweep you off your feet.

Carroll has always been the one that can calm a fight, the one who always has it together, and the one who isn't wild...a rule follower. That is until she meets her sister's sexy fiancée and she begins to wonder what it would be like to be loved without abandon, to be wild. But with Alan, Carroll's boyfriend, she's not sure she'll ever find out. Alan is a pediatrician who Carroll knows she can depend on, trust, and live in a suburban house with a white picket fence and children. Alan knows he needs to show Carroll how much she is loved and needed in his life. He begins doing out of the ordinary things for Carroll to show her how much he loves her. At first, Carroll finds it to be completely romantic, but when Alan keeps going bigger and better with his surprises, she wonders if he is still the man she fell in love with. While I enjoyed the characters and the story, this was just not one of my favorites from Jennifer. I just didn't get that deep connection with the characters and the story itself seemed to end rather abruptly. However, I thought the story line was quite interesting. Many times we think, what would it be like if... Never really knowing the answer for sure. Alan wanted so much to make Carroll happy, that he was ready to change himself into someone else to do so. Carroll was so curious what it would be like to be wild and to be wooed by a man, but when she finally got that, she realized that maybe that's not what she wanted after all. I kept thinking how romantic some of the things Alan did was, but would I want that to change the person? Would I want the person I'm in love with, possibly marrying, to do something he completely despised, just to make me happy? I think my answer would have to be no, but compromise somewhere in the middle, so that everyone is happy. And sometimes, you call up your best girlfriend and have a night out with them so that you can enjoy your "thing" and not torture your loved one.DISCLOSURE: I was graciously provided a free digital version of this book from Carina Press in partnership with NetGalley to review it. What do You think about No More Mr. Nice Guy (2015)?

When two 'boring' people begin to worry that they're too boring to interest each other for a lifetime, they start to question their relationship. Caroll loves her more adventurous sister, but when she shows up, out of the blue, with her dark, mysterious, and oh-so-exciting, fiancé, Caro can't help wondering if she's missing out on life. Her stead-fast, pediatrician boyfriend, Alan, sees the longing in her eyes and decides to sweep her off her feet. They haven't slept together yet, and though he'd never pressure her, he feels as though he may not be exciting enough for her. What follows is a sweet, silly tale of a responsible, slightly boring, man trying to be a romantic hero, in order to prove himself to the woman he's loved from the minute he saw her. His efforts are very much appreciated until the woman begins to wonder if his efforts are because he's trying to make HER more exciting. Cute, slightly steamy, well-developed, with very likable characters, this story is a very enjoyable, easy read that'll leave you smiling.

When I requested the book on NetGalley, I was thinking that the book would be a funny and sexy contemporary romance… And it’s not. Although it’s well written by the author, I was hoping for more.Carroll Laker is a typical good girl with the perfect boyfriend, until the day that her sister comes back from Quebec with a hot fiancé - the dream of every woman. Then she starts to rethink about her relationship with her boyfriend Alan, if he’s the right guy or not. Alan is the typical “too much” guy, too much respectful, too much nice, too much everything, and when he sees that maybe he is losing the girl of his life, he starts to change his way of life and spice things up with Carroll. But are these changes too much for them?Even though I was somehow disappointed with the book, it was a nice and sweet read. It was very nice to see how strong women can be insecure about the perfect relationship, and how a man can change for the love of his life.
