No Shoes, No Shirt, No Spells (2011) - Plot & Excerpts
This was the first book I read of this author's. It was ok... The characters and situation was interesting enough to continue reading, but there was something to be left desired with the actual writing style, for me."I need to trust him to make this work. In order for me to succeed, I need to trust him"Yup...trust...we got that the first time you said it...last sentence. and there were continuity issues... In one instance she is pressed up against a man's chest, then the next sentence she declares he's been staring embarrassingly at his shoes. So...looking through their bodies? Not enough for it to be unreadable, but enough to pull me out of the story and go...."huh?"Then we get to the sequel and she seems to copy/paste character descriptions. *headdesk*Yet I still want the main character to end up with Tom...*sigh*, so I will probably read the last of the series Okay first let me say that this book was a FUN READ! I had an absolute blast reading it, and immediately put all the other books by this author on my TBR pile.Elly isn't sure how to run the cafe her grandmother has given her, especially since she didn't even know anything about magic until she was gifted the cafe. But she is dumped in the cafe, with a giant recipe spell book and very little understanding of the entire thing. So she casts her first spell but due to a mistake it went to the wrong person. And from there things just get outrageously funny. And I must say the man in question is HOT with a capital H. This is the perfect light read for an evening when you are feeling down and out. Because it is sure to make you grin like an idiot.Wishing it was real because I could seriously use a piece of her magical pick me up pie about now!Go grab yourself a copy, you won't regret it!
