No Words Alone (2008) - Plot & Excerpts

Loved the idea of the story and enjoyed the characters. The Scorpio culture was interesting. Xera's antiquated moral views were amusing and worked well in the story. Ms. Dawn could have done much more with the book. It feels like we have just skimmed the surface of the characters. I got this as a free book and was pleasantly surprised. My only complaint would be that it reads a bit like a short story... leaving me slightly unfulfilled in the end. I would re-read and recommend. Okay. Space romance. Xera is a translator on a ship that crashes on a really yucky world because it was messing with the warship of another culture (run on sentence alert) that it wasn't supposed to be messing with. Despite that the leader of the alien crew sez, "Come with us because we're badasses and we need you as cannon fodder." Ryven is the leader and he "likes" Xera because she's got guts. Also she's the only girl on the other crew and since they're nasty humans they've all decided that she's a bad girl and needs to be punished. (Okay, not that bad.) Anyway, Ryven develops insta-lust for Xera and she's a war prize. Oh, dear, whatever shall happen?Good stuff: The author world builds great. It's a cool place she invented. The reader gets invested. Also although the author pubbed this traditionally, she has since gone indie, which says something about stupid tradtional publishers missing out. I would really give this book a 3.5 because I was very interested in what would happen.Bad stuff: Ryven is alpha male to the max and sometimes I want to bitch-slap him just to show him what for. There's some predictability that I dislike and I don't want to give the book away.I say read it in front of the fire with a nice glass of merlot.

What do You think about No Words Alone (2008)?

It was a typical romance novel, very predictable. I guess that is why it is free on itunes.
